Do I need to plug the printer directly into the router or is there another way to access the printer w/o doing that?

How do you connect windows 2k to a computer with windows XP via home networking? I've been trying to figure it out for hours now, and I just can't seem to do it! I had a friend get the network set up for me using the remote access on the computer with XP on it, but windows 2k doesn't take that version of msn! The computer with XP DOES have the network available, as well as file sharing (Which is where I'm kinda trying to go..) but I can't seem to get it set up on windows 2000. Any suggestions would be great! The computer I have with XP doesn't have a floppy drive... stupid compaq!!!!!!!! I tried placing a cd into the drive, and it still said that I need a floppy.
how do you reduce home wireless networking errors? On my home wireless network , i`m getting 100`s of errors. Does anyone know why or how to reduce them. Thanks in advance. The router.adsl modem is a belkin 54g and all i can add is that on the stats page of the modem is tell me the amount of data, and errors associated with the wireless part. There are no other errors to do with the hard wired networked pc`s. just the wireless connection to a laptop. yes the router is in range....84% signal and constant. no to mac filtering. yes to encryption (wpask) all links use the same code or wouldnt be able to get a link. the wireless link does work and seems pretty stable but my question was as to why i was getting so many errors only on the wireless link. you might say "why worry if it`s working pretty good" but thats not the point when really there shouldn`t be any errors at all. sorry ppl, i cant tell you what the errors are, my router doesn`t tell me exactly what they are just the amount. If i knew what they were or what was causing them then i wouldnt be asking. Thanks for trying anyway..

Home networking - should I buy a wireless card or a USB adapter? I've been setting up a wireless network at my home and I've run into a problem. The "main" computer (the one that's hooked up to the modem - a SpeedStream 6520, if it matters) works fine, as does my laptop. Our second desktop doesn't have a wireless card and I'm trying to figure out what to buy. It's a pretty old computer (ca. 2000). I'm looking at these two options: for the card, the D-Link WDA-1320 Wireless G Desktop Adapter. For the USB, I'm thinking the D-Link DBT-122 Wireless Bluetooth 1.2 USB Adapter. The USB is about $20 cheaper, and obviously way easier to install. I'm not a computer expert, so I don't really like the idea of installing the card. The problem is, my ISP's tech support department told me not to buy the USB adapter because I "don't need another router." I 'm pretty sure they misunderstood what I meant, and I feel like the USB is the best choice, regardless. But before I do something to mess up my computer, I'm asking you all: What should I do?

I need help with my home networking and printing. I have a network set up on my desktop, allowing my notebook to hook into the internet. At one time, I could print documents from my notebook on the printer hooked into the desktop. That is no longer the case. I've set the printer to "share this printer" and tried setting up the network again but have had no luck. Do both cpu's need the printer software? I'd really like to zap out all former networking and start from scratch but if there is another way, I'm all ears. Also, I cant seem to share folders between CPU's. Help Please!
