Help with Networking

Network Help? I have a desktop with windows xp home and a laptop with windows media center. I have tried to network them both to share files and printer between them both. Does the fact that they are diffrent edition make any diffrence and how do i establish the network the easiest way? I already have a router ans dsl. The desktop has a floppy drive where the network data wants to saved but the laptop doesn't. Please help?

I need help setting up a wirelees network with a Window 2000 PC as the host? I've 2 computers and I need to figure out how to get my upstairs computer which is running WINDOWS 2000 to work with my downstairs computer that is running WINDOWS XP. VERIZON supplied me with a WESTELL VERSALINK MODEL 327W ROUTER/MODEM COMBO but i've no idea how to access the ROUTER part of it. I also have a LINKSYS WIRELESS G BROADBAND ROUTER with a 4-POINT SWITCH MODEL WRT45G. On my downstairs computer(the XP one) I have A WIRELESS-G PCI ADAPTER with SPEEDBOOSTER I have the hardware for the most part but I DON'T have any of the INSTALLATION DISKS. Please someone help me set up my wireless network.

Can you help me to figure out how to share files and a printer over my wired/wireless network? Can some one help me find out why my server isnt picking up the network? I am running windows server 2003.a few days ago i relocated it to a place where it would be out of the way and safe.now it will not access the network nor will it access the internet.I have checked all settings and also checked the wiring. Help me find a device to network a USB drive? I'm looking for a device that will allow me to connect a USB drive to it and then see it on my wireless network - basically to act as a remote storage device. I have a home network and am having problems with viewing documents from another notebook. Help? I have an XP Desktop and A Vista Laptop. When I go into My network there are shared files from my Laptop Visible on My PC's Network Places. I Click on a Folder "My Documents" and I get this Message. "\\Bob-laptop\Documents not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions." As far as I know I am the administrator so I asked myself if I have permission and as far as I know I do. HELP!!! The Folders are Shared and Firewall is set to share files. I just cant get access from my PC. I can get access to my PC FIles from my laptop however.

Please help, my computer cannot connect to the internet and the network? The computer is on windows 98 system. It usually connects to the network (share file and internet). Suddenly, this morning, the computer could not connect to internet and the network. The other computers in the network are working fine and can connect to internet and the network (share files). Some info: I have a Dynamic ip address, i have two Routers, a wireless one and a normal one both are connected together by a Ethernet cable. the setup is like this Phone Line >>> Splitter(one goes to the Direct tv box) >>> Router1 >>>> Wireless router >>> Computer1 and then also to Computer 2. I've thought about it, and here are some options that the problem could be 1. Routers are holding OLD IPs, and when it hits one it disconnects until it switches to another. (Yes i have resetted) 2. My setup is messy. 3. Isp a few weeks ago, Upgraded the speed of the internet, and maybe its causing problems? 4. my Ethernet cables, are old... but why would it reconnect so fast? Mostly, it reconnects fast enough so i dont notice if i am browsing a website but if i am playing a game it usaully boots me off. if you could help me pick the most likley answer it would be nice!

Please Help ??? What is the average filesharing speed on a home network through a wireless modem? have 2 wireless computers, one a desktop the other a laptop. I have them connected through a wireless modem and both running the internet. I have set up file sharing through windows and am able to acces and share files between both computers. My question is what should the speed be when transfering files from one computer to the other through home networking in windows. And have set up a home network using the networking wizard through windows and selecting each computer is connected to the internet through a residential gateway,, this i think meaning my wireless modem ( an orange livebox ) what should be the speed i get when transfering files between computers ?? they both have excellent signal as the modem is just at the other end of the room and both adapters are 54mbps. but at max i am only getting 0.5 mbps speed when transfering the files, surely it should go faster than this, should it ?
