Can you help me to figure out how to share files and a printer over my wired/wireless network?
I have a desktop PC, a lap top, at&t dsl, a Siemens 4100 Speadstream Modem, and a Linksys wireless router (WRT54G-v6). I am able to share the internet connection, so I have a wireless/wired network, but i am unable to establish a network place that allows me to share files and have a shared printer. HELP...in detail please.

- To share the printer it would either have to be connected to you computer or the router. To share files you have to setup your firewall to access each other computers. Best to check your firewalls instructions on how to do this as each are different.
- For file sharing you need to set up a Workgroup on the computers that are using the same router. The information is available in the Help under ther Start button. Once the workgroup is setup you will have to go into the individual computer to select the files you want to share. You can also select the printers to share. On the computer without the printer, do a network search for the other unit and it's printer. You may need to load the drivers for that printer . This is assuming the printer is attached to a computer and is functional on it's host. Also, power MUST be on for the host computer. Another way is to install a wireless print server for the printer. It will then not require a host computer that is always powered up. The most important thing about file and printer sharing is security. Make sure you have encrytion active on the the wireless side. Without it you are allowing anyone to use your router and view any shared files.
